The Cambridge Empowerment Center is a 501(c) (3) nonprofit, multi-use community center in the heart of the Pine Street Historic District in Cambridge, Maryland.
Our Center serves basic needs as well as social and recreational opportunities for the entire community, regardless of age.
Programs are developed to help in times of emergency with food, clothing, children’s programs, and other resources. We partner with many other organizations to provide more extensive services.
The Cambridge Empowerment Center is governed by a board of directors, known as The Pine Street Committee, Inc., who oversee the programs and use of the building.
The Pine Street Committee, Inc. (PSC) works cooperatively with government, organizations, businesses, and individuals to help our County and the City of Cambridge. Our goal is to make economic and revitalization challenges surmountable while providing safe artistic, recreational and cultural activities for our community’s youth and seniors. Fostering productive and positive relationships, the Pine Street Committee builds and opens doors for diverse cultural exchanges among all citizens.
Opened in 2003, it sits on the former site of 1918 The Pine Street School in the heart of the African American community. Named to the National Register of Historic Places in 2012, the Pine Street Historic District has a rich history.
